Pain

Pain isn’t when you have monday morning blues, if a few good people can brighten you up

Pain isn’t when you feel insomnia creeping up, if there’s a nice book to keep you engaged

Pain isn’t working out for hours, if it’s done with interest and passion

Pain isn’t having less money, if you can make your loved ones smile

Pain isn’t feeling icy cold winds, if you have a warm blanket or a person to hug

Pain isn’t being a little too thin, if you can slip between cracks easily

Pain isn’t being a little too fat, if you can tackle bullies without extra effort

Pain isn’t getting beaten up, if you’ve got some love and medication to heal you

Pain isn’t losing, if you can learn from that experience and correct your mistakes

Pain isn’t dying, if you’ve loved and etched a place in a few people’s hearts

What is pain?

Pain is being ignored and forgotten, when your dear ones don’t have time for you

Pain is old memories, when you realize a lot has changed since then

Pain is being judged by skin color and race, when you have plenty of talent in you

Pain is seeing someone cry, when you can’t do anything to stop it

Pain is hearing harsh words from a loved one, when you know it’ll scar you forever

Pain is having a breakup, when you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong

Pain is to see your loyalty being broken, when it’s from a person you trusted a lot

Pain is losing someone to God, even if it’s just a person you met a day before

Pain is seeing people hate one another, discriminate, fight with and kill for anything and everything, when there’s so much to love in every individual and so much love to share with the whole wide world

Yes that’s Pain

But then again

Pain isn’t a weakness

Pain is meant to wake you up

Pain is meant to strengthen you

Strength to be a better you

And strength maybe to make the world a better place too!

To New Beginnings – 2016

Finally, 2016 is here. Hurray! Wait, what’s so special about it by the way? Well, my 2014 wasn’t that great a year to be remembered. Lot of problems from start to end. So, I stepped into 2015 with lots of hopes and expectations that it’ll turn out to be better than its predecessor. Boy, was I wrong! It actually ended up being, by far, the worst possible year in my life. Pushed to the depths of misery, despair and depression, thanks to a select few people, I barely made it out alive. Finally, of course Mother Nature added her final touch to it all, with an unforgettable flooding in my city. So, what about 2016? Should I foolishly fill my heart with hope again or should I become all pessimistic and despondent that nothing good will ever knock at my door? Neither would help me though, would it?

People celebrate a new year with such enthusiasm, though it’s just a start to another bunch of 365 days after all. The New year fever is unavoidable, whether we decide to get high and tear up the dance floor or sit at home and watch the countdown on T.! We’re not really sure if the next year will be better or worse, but we always hope it’ll be the former. Those of us who’s had a rough year want the next one to be better, whereas those who’s had a great year already want it to continue into the next. Totally fine. What’s not fine is that, we tend to stupidly EXPECT that good things and happiness will pour in magically!

Every year is definitely going to have its own ups and downs. Happiness lies in whichever part we choose to magnify. I learnt this one tiny little thing after going through a lot. I always tend to make the mistake of hoping for a change and then sulking forever when things turn bad, cursing the high heavens. That never really helps. Happiness takes EFFORT. It’ll not happen on its own. We need to work towards it. So what do I do? No matter what the year is gonna throw at me, I’ve decided to not stop TRYING to be better and happier, instead of just hoping and moping. I think that’s what a new year is about. It’s about what you went through for 365 days and how you let it energize and uplift your coming days. Using Engorgio on the good times and Reducto on the bad times(couldn’t help the HP reference) or maybe even start afresh with a clean slate. It’s all about unleashing your best possible effort to be your better self, your happier self than the yesteryear.

I wish you all a Happy 2016! Let’s work towards making it a happier one for us. Cheers!
